DETROIT (WWJ) - State police said one driver got irate and threatened another driver with a weapon after they were forced to change lanes for a merging vehicle on I-94 Saturday morning.

Troopers with the Michigan State Police said they received a call about the alleged road rage incident which the caller said happened on eastbound I-94 and Dickerson Ave. around 11:25 a.m.

The victim said he was merging on the I-94 and another vehicle - the suspect vehicle - was in the far right lane as he attempted to do so. The caller said the vehicle was possibly forced into the middle lane as he merged.

The suspect driver began to tailgate the victim and drove up alongside him and screamed obscenities out the window, police said.

"The suspect then appeared to reach for and “rack” a handgun to which he then produced and brandished only," MSP explained.

The suspect vehicle then cut off the victim and got off the freeway at an unknown exit; the caller said the suspect had his window half rolled down with his arm was sticking out as he allegedly threw something at the victim's vehicle.

Other details were not immediately available as police said the victim was only able to get a limited description if the suspect's vehicle.

Troopers said no one was hurt in the incident and they are continuing their investigation at this time.

"Again, it’s only driving folks!" MSP said.
