
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - A 54-year-old Ann Arbor man is in custody in connection with the homicide investigation of a former city official, police announced on Saturday.
According to Ann Arbor Police Department, the man is scheduled to be arraigned on charges of open murder, home invasion in the 1st degree and assault with intent to commit sexual penetration on Sunday in 15th district court.
Officers discovered the body of Jude Walton, 51, a former commissioner of the Independent Community Police Oversight Commission, after they were called to conduct a welfare check at a home on Chapin Street, near Huron and Main, around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Authorities confirmed next of kin was notified and her death was being investigated as a homicide.
The police oversight commission was formed by Ann Arbor City Council in 2019. Walton worked as the director of human resources at a nonprofit affordable housing provider in the city, according to a report from MLive.
