DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Police Department needs help to identify and track down a man wanted in an assault and robbery at a gas station on the city's east side.
The incident happened just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, according to investigators, in the 15000 block of E. 8 Mile Rd. near Gratiot Ave.
Police said the whole thing began when the suspect (pictured) accused a 33-year-old man of stealing something from him.
The two men "exchanged words," police said, and when the victim tried to leave the gas station the suspect blocked the door, refusing to let him go.
Police said the suspect then assaulted the victim, picked up and object and hit him with it, and stole his money before fleeing the gas station. Police did not say what the object was.

The suspect drove away in a newer model Jeep Compass, and the victim was taken to a hospital where he was treated for injuries he suffered in the attack.
Anyone who can ID this wanted man, or who has any information about him, is asked to call the Detroit Police Department's 9th Precinct at 313-596-5940, Crime. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP (800-773-2587), or through DetroitRewards.tv.
