HOLLY (WWJ) -- After a 78-year-old man was carjacked at a gas station in Holly, Michigan State Police stopped the stolen vehicle in Sanilac County and took the suspect into custody.

Early Monday morning just before 7 a.m., state troopers responded to a carjacking report on East Holly Rd in Groveland.

They spoke to the victim -- a 78-year-old man -- who said he was initially at a Mobil gas station in Holly. He went inside, and when he returned to his car, someone was hiding in his back seat.

The intruder claimed to have a gun and told the victim to drive.

After driving back to his residence, the victim exited his car while the suspect took the keys and left.

Once MSP had the vehicle's description, they were able to disable the car in Brown City, more than 60 miles northeast of Holly in Sanilac County.

Along with local officers, MSP troopers approached the car and saw that the suspect was outside the vehicle as well.

According to MSP, the alleged carjacker resisted arrest, and a Sanilac County deputy used his Taser on the suspect.

The accused was taken into custody without further incident and awaits potential charges.

Law enforcement did not find a firearm at the scene.
