(WWJ) There are no more Hooters in Metro Detroit after the restaurant chain abruptly closed its Downriver location.

The Taylor Hooters, located on Eureka Rd. near I-75, closed permanently on Wednesday, according to a phone recording at the restaurant.

This means there's only one open Hooters remaining in Michigan: located at 5528 Bay Rd. in Saginaw.

Hooters — known for its chicken winds and scantily clad female servers — had previously filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and had a restructuring agreement to sell 100 corporate-led locations to franchisee groups.

Despite the closures, the company back in April reassured customers that its renowned restaurants were here to stay while the chain was reportedly working with creditors on a plan to restructure the business through bankruptcy court.

The company said, however, once the restructuring was complete, all its locations would be franchise-owned.

On June 4, 2025, Hooters closed more than 30 company-owned restaurants across multiple states — including the Taylor, Michigan, location.
