Teen driver killed in crash into building while drag racing BMWs in Dearborn Heights: police

DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- A teenager is dead after a late night crash while drag racing in Dearborn Heights, according to police.

The Dearborn Heights Police Department said, at around 11 p.m. Thursday, the 16-year old driver was racing another teen on westbound Ford Rd. east of Telegraph Rd., when he lost control of his BMW and crashed into a building.

The 16-year-old died at the scene.

The other teen was tracked down by officers and ticketed for speeding. Police said he was also driving a BMW.

Photos from the scene show there was a lot of damage done to the Meemic Insurance company building, at Ford Rd. and Rosetta.

Police are continuing to investigate.

No names were released.
