DEARBORN (WWJ) - Two teens are in custody after another was stabbed Wednesday night in Dearborn.
Dearborn Police said they dispatched officers to the call in the area of Warren and Schaeffer.
The initial investigation revealed that a group of teen boys got into an argument with two other teen boys who were walking in the area. Several members of the larger group reportedly assaulted one of the individuals, a press release about the incident said. A 16-year-old was allegedly stabbed by another multiple times.
Officers provided first-aid to the victim until paramedics arrived and took him to a local hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
Two 15-year-olds were identified and arrested by Dearborn Police, the press release said. They are being held at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility.
A warrant request was submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office – Juvenile Division.
“While we are relieved that the victim is expected to survive, this incident highlights the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully,” Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said. “Our officers acted quickly to provide life-saving aid and apprehend a suspect, but we must continue to work together as a community to ensure our young people understand the consequences of violence and choose a better path.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dearborn Police Department at 313-943-2241.
