(WWJ) – Roseville police reportedly have a suspect in custody in connection with the discovery of a woman’s body found in the bed of a pickup truck following a crash last week.
A 19-year-old from Lexington, Mich., is awaiting homicide charges and could be arraigned as early as Tuesday, according to a report from the Macomb Daily. The suspect was arrested Saturday afternoon, according to the report, but it was not clear where he was found.
Roseville police officials have not yet announced an arrest in the case. The Daily reports Deputy Police Chief Mitchell Berlin said he “could not confirm or deny” that the suspect is in custody.
The report from the Macomb Daily says the teen is expected to face a first-degree murder charge.
The woman's cause of death remains unclear.
The search for a suspect began last Thursday afternoon when a blue pickup truck got into a crash in the area of Hayes and Common – near the city’s border with Warren.
Officials said a young suspect, believed to be 17-20-years old ran from the scene after the crash. During the investigation police found a 62-year-old woman’s body in the bed of the truck.
Authorities have not released the victim’s name, but reports over the weekend identified her as Gabrielle Seitz.
Police have not said whether the suspect and victim knew each other. While some reports suggested they lived together, a son of the victim told WDIV that was not true.
