CLINTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) – Police are searching for a suspect who shot a teenager during the annual Partridge Creek Mall tree lighting ceremony.
Sunday night, officers from the Clinton Township Police Department responded to Partridge Creek along Hall Rd., between Garfield and Romeo Plank Rd, after reports of gunfire outside the outside the MJR theater.
Officers arrived on scene to find a 17-year old victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
The victim was last reported to be in stable condition, as of late Monday morning.
No one else was hurt.
Investigators call the shooting an "isolated incident" between two groups of people. Police said the gunfire erupted after an argument, and they do not believe it was targeted against the tree lighting ceremony.
Police said that, during the commotion after the shooting, 911 services were getting reports of an active threat at other locations within the mall, but those reports were false.
The shooter has not yet been arrested, and police are still looking for person of interest. He was described as a Black male wearing a green hooded-sweatshirt with white flowers, jeans, and tennis shoes, last seen fleeing the mall to the west.
The Clinton Township Police Department urged all residents in the area to lock their doors and windows as they searched for the suspect.
