MONROE (WWJ) - Officials with the Ohio Air National Guard are giving a heads up to residents in Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio as they prepare for nighttime exercises over the area on Thursday.

Pilots and maintenance personnel with the 180th Fighter Wing are scheduled to conduct afterhours training the evening of April 7. While most flights take place during the day, overall readiness training does require occasional overnight operations, Public Affairs Specialist Staff Sergeant Kregg York said in a press release.

Residents and airplane enthusiasts can expect to see and hear the powerful F-16 jets landing and taking off from the unit's station at Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport in Ohio, located 10 miles south of the Michigan border.

Flight operations are expected to last until 11 p.m.

"The 180th Fighter Wing appreciates the continued support from the citizens of Ohio and Michigan as we continue to train in support of our mission," SSgt York said.
