DETROIT (WWJ) -- There's a homicide investigation underway in Southwest Detroit neighborhood, where three people were found dead inside a home.
According to Detroit Police Commander Rebecca McKay, officers first responded to the neighborhood shortly before 1 p.m., after a 911 call came in about a missing person.
McKay said, while officers were in the area, they were approached by another person who said they'd been assaulted inside a nearby home, on Edsel near Fort Street and Outer Drive.
"Police went into the home and found three individuals, adult males, in the basement of the location who had apparently been brutally assaulted. They are deceased," McKay told reporters at a press briefing.
McKay said the case is being investigated as a triple homicide.
She did not say how the men were killed, and there's no word on a potential suspect or suspects at this time.
The DPD did not immediately release any further details about the victims, including their ages, as McKay said the investigation is still in the very early stages.
It's unclear at this time if the missing person call is related to the murder case.
McKay said police are asking anyone who saw anything, or who has any information, to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up (1-800-773-2587), or contact the DPD at 313-267-4600.
