VIDEO: Tips wanted to ID man who dumped gasoline, set fire to porch of Detroit home

DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Fire Investigation Division is asking for help to identify and locate a person wanted in connection with a home arson caught on video last summer.

At around 3:30 a.m. on August 25, 2025, the Detroit Fire Department responded to a report of a house on fire in the 9100 block of Isham, on Detroit’s east side.

Fire crews responded to put the fire out, and no one was hurt.

Video obtained by investigators shows the suspect — a man wearing white sneakers, blue jeans, and a black short-sleeved jacket over a white shirt, and carrying a red gas can — dousing the front porch of the home with gasoline.

At short time later, the suspect lights the porch on fire and flees the area.

The Detroit Fire Investigation Division — a joint task force between the Detroit Police and Fire Departments — on Tuesday shared video of the incident, asking the public for any information that could help solve this case.

There's a reward of $1,000 for the tip that leads to an arrest.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the video, or who knows anything about this crime, is asked to call 313-596-2940. To remain anonymous, tipsters can call the arson tip line at 313-628-2900 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. You can also submit a tip online at Detroitrewards.tv.
