DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroiters should plan ahead for any weekend travel as I-94 will be closed for construction.
The Michigan Department of Transportation will be replacing the original Burns Street overpass in Detroit, which was built in 1954.

Westbound I-94 traffic will be detoured via southbound M-3, the westbound Gratiot Connector, and northbound I-75, back to westbound I-94.
I-94 traffic going eastbound will be detoured via southbound I-75, the eastbound Gratiot Connector, northbound M-3 and eastbound M-102, back to eastbound I-94.
Entrance ramps to westbound I-94 from Chalmers to Mt. Elliott streets, along with eastbound entrance ramps from I-96 to Gratiot Avenue will close by 9 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
