DETROIT (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway after a triple shooting on Detroit’s west side, reportedly involving a father and son Sunday evening.
Detroit police tweeted a video Monday afternoon showing the incident on St. Mary’s and Plymouth Road, just east of Greenfield Road.
The video shows a black SUV park along St. Mary’s around 8 p.m. on Father’s Day, shortly before what appears to be a black Chrysler 300 turns onto the street. Seconds later, the vehicle pulls over and a man gets out of the front passenger’s side door and opens fire on the SUV with what looks like an assault rifle.
A vehicle in front of the SUV sped away from the scene, as bystanders can be seen running away. As the suspect vehicle fled on St. Mary’s, the SUV took off and turned on Plymouth.
A report from WDIV says a 33-year-old man and his 11-year-old son were inside the SUV during the shooting. They were both reportedly injured, along with another man inside the vehicle, according to the report, but are both expected to survive.
Police are searching for the suspect, who is considered to be armed and dangerous. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and two-tone stone-washed jeans, and are asking for the public’s help in finding him.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Detroit Police Department’s 6th Precinct at 313-596-5640. Calls can also be made anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
