TROY (WWJ) — A Madison Heights man is in trouble with the law after being busted for drunk driving when police found him asleep at the wheel.
Around 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, Troy police officers watched the 31-year-old driver sith through multiple traffic light cycles at the intersection of Rochester and Square Lake Roads.
When officers initiated a traffic stop and approached his 2013 Honda Ridgeline, they noticed he was "passed out at the wheel with the vehicle still in drive," Troy police officials said in a release.
When officers awoke the man they noticed his breath smelled like alcohol.
The driver failed multiple field sobriety tests and blew a .129% BAC on a preliminary breath test. He was arrested and taken to the Troy Police Lock-Up.
There, he submitted to a chemical breath test, which came back with a result of .147% and was issued a citation for operating while intoxicated.
The driver's name was not released.
