(WWJ) One Taco Bell customer called 9-1-1 on another over an alleged gun threat in line at a drive-thru in Troy, early this month.
Troy Police officers responded to the fast food restaurant on Dequindre Rd. at Long Lake Rd., at around 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Officers spoke with the victim who said he was at the drive-thru waiting to place an order, when the driver of a blue 2019 Nissan cut in front of him. The victim pulled alongside the vehicle and words were exchanged.
The victim told police that the other driver then reached toward his hip and lifted a pistol in the air, but never pointed it at him.
The officers spoke with the driver of the Nissan, a 51-year-old Detroit man, whom police determined did in fact have a black Sig P320 compact firearm in a holster on his right hip.
The driver told police that he motioned to his hip during the argument, but never pulled the gun from its holster. The driver’s two passengers confirmed the weapon was never taken out of the holster, police said.
The firearm was registered to the driver, who did have a CPL.
The gun was returned to its owner, and everyone involved when on their way without any charges filed.
Meanwhile, while police were on the scene investigating that incident, they said they were bothered by a man who kept walking back and forth in the area, yelling at officers.
The man, identified as a 25-year-old resident of Rochester Hills, was asked several times to leave but refused, police said.
He was then arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
