(WWJ) This is something two boys and a girl will be talking about for a long time.

The boys, both 10, and the girl, 13, were in their apartment on Firelite Lane near Cherry Hill Drive in Pontiac early Saturday morning when a pickup truck crashed into their living room after going through the front door and front window, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Department.

The children had been with a babysitter across the street and went to get some personal items when the crash occurred.

The children escaped by climbing through a window. All three had minor scrapes and were treated at the scene.

The driver from Pontiac, 36, ran away from the crash site with her dog, but was arrested a short time later after people in the area pointed to her as she was held by a security guard.

The driver denied she was driving the truck, but was arrested for suspected drunk driving.  She was taken to the hospital after complaining of injuries, but released later pending toxicology test results.

“It’s beyond belief with so many ride options that people still choose to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in a statement. “They senselessly and recklessly put themselves and others in danger of injury or death, and they need to be held accountable.”

Once the toxicology results come back, Sheriff's investigators will submit a report to the Oakland County Prosecutor's office to review for possible charges.
