LANSING (WWJ) — Three people, including two police officers, have been shot in an officer-involved shooting in Lansing.

Lansing police officials tell WWJ the shooting happened around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday near an apartment complex in the area of West Holmes Road and Simken Drive on Lansing's south side.

A suspect, who was also shot, is in police custody. While Lansing Police Chief Ellery Sosebee says authorities were "familiar" with the suspect, no information about his criminal past was released.

Both the officers and the suspect were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Other than to say the two uniformed officers were "following up" on a crime, authorities have not yet released any details as to what happened in the moments leading up to or during the shooting.

The investigation, which was turned over to Michigan State Police, is still in the very early stages.
