CENTER LINE (WWJ) The United Auto Workers (UAW) is demanding accountability and complete transparency after the workplace death of one of its own.
The UAW says the "incident" happened during the morning of Saturday, August 1, at the Stellantis Mopar Division National Parts Facility in Center Line, in the area of I-696 and Van Dyke Avenue.
According to union officials, the man died while working on a renovation project at the PDC, but no further details were released.
The UAW identified him as a 30-plus-year union member and laborer, James Brasher.
"A member our union went to work today expecting to complete his shift and return home to his loved ones, but sadly, that will not happen," the UAW said in a statement. "The UAW will investigate and demand details from the company of exactly how this tragedy occurred to ensure this kind of accident never happens again."
The UAW also vowed to support Brasher's family in "every possible way."
