SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) You'll get a break from your sweaters and coats this weekend because of unseasonably warm temperatures in the forecast.

Accuweather forecasts a high of 58 degrees Saturday (12/28), with clouds and some light rain in the morning.

"That's 24 degrees above the average high, which is 34…but it's still going to be spring-like, nonetheless," Accuweather meteorologist Joe Lundberg said.

Meteorologists expect the trend of high temperatures to continue through New Year's Day. Temperatures are slated to drop back to the 30's on January 2nd.

The Accuweather forecast is not showing snow again until Sunday, January 5th.

The National Weather Service recorded the record high for Metro Detroit on December 28th as 64 degrees in 1984. The record low for the same day was -4 degrees in 1924.
