DETROIT (WWJ) -- A local family is pleading with the public for answers, one year after their loved one was murdered in Detroit.
According to police, 50-year-old Marzet Davis was driving a Dodge Durango when he was fatally shot in a drive-by, just after 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022.
It happened in the area of E. 7 Mile Rd. and Binder St., near Ryan Rd., on the city's east side.
Police said Davis was stopped at a red light when a dark-colored, four-door sedan pulled up next to him, and someone inside fired multiple rounds into his vehicle.
Davis tried to get away, but was only able to drive a few blocks before crashing into a fence at nearby Pershing High School. He died at the scene.
It's unclear if, or why, Davis may have been targeted, and no suspects have been identified by police.
Crime Stoppers of Michigan is now offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
Anyone with who knows anything about Davis' murder asked to call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 1-800-Speak Up (800-773-2587). The public can also submit anonymous tips online at this link.
