(WWJ) A family is pleading for tips in the cold case killing of a woman ejected from her car along I-96 after being forced off the freeway.
Shacarra Butler lived for 78 days following the rollover crash, near Livernois on Detroit's west side, at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2017 — eventually succumbing to her severe injuries.
Butler's family said the 28-year-old Detroit woman had just dropped her son off at pre-school when it happened.
While Michigan State Police have deemed this hit-and-run a homicide, years later the driver responsible for the deadly wreck has still not been found. Unfortunately, there is no description available of the suspect or the suspect vehicle.
As the investigation continues, Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a cash reward of up to $4,500 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
Anyone who knows anything is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up (1-800-773-2587). All tipsters will remain 100% anonymous. Tips can also be submitted on the Crime Stoppers website.
Callers should keep in mind that they are never required to give their names, to speak with police or to testify in court. Crime Stoppers pays all rewards anonymously when an arrest is made and does not wait for a conviction.
