MACOMB COUNTY (WWJ) - A group of alleged vandals caught smashing in windshields in Macomb Township are being sought by police as similar crimes involving destroyed vehicles were reported in a neighboring city.
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said they were alerted on Feb. 10 to "multiple incidents" of malicious destruction of property in the areas of 22 Mile and Card and 24 Mile and Hayes in Macomb Township.
According to deputies, a Ford F150 four-door truck with black wheel and four occupants was reported to have been involved in the string of alleged crimes.
Footage of one of the incidents released by the sheriff's office on Wednesday (Feb. 21) shows at least two male occupants -- one with a thin build and one with a medium build, get out of the truck's back seat before jumping on the hoods of two vehicles and kicking in their windshields.
The suspects then get back into the Ford before it drives away.
Anyone with any information had been asked to contact Detective Gerkey at 586-469-6634 or daniel.gerkey@macombcountymi.gov.
On Tuesday, Shelby Township Police Department also reported several incidents of smashed in windshields in the area of 24 Mile and Schoenherr in the last two weeks and the person -- or persons -- behind it have yet to be caught.
"Do you know who has been doing this??" The department asked in a social media post with a photo of a white vehicle with heavy damage to its windshield.
"We are looking for any video footage or information as to who is responsible for this," authorities added.
The Shelby Township PD told WWJ that there were no new updates in the case. It is unknown if the incidents in the neighboring cities are related.
