(WWJ) Video shows half-a-dozen police officers on the scene of a knife-wielding woman on the sidewalk in Detroit's New Center area.
Detroit Police confirmed to WWJ Newsradio 950 on Thursday that officers did respond to the incident, outside the Gateway Health Center, near the Third Precinct at W. Grand Blvd. and the Lodge Freeway.
Seen on cell phone video shot by Instagram user @riaraaa and posted on the Facebook page "Crime in the D", the woman stood on the sidewalk in a defensive pose, brandishing one knife in each hand.
The woman, wearing all black, is gradually approached by a group of at least six uniformed police officers. As they walk up to her slowly, she does not give herself up. She backs away, never lunging, but still holding the knives.
"What kind of Mortal Kombat s— is this?" a bystander asks, in the video. "This is a bad way to go... That's all they need to do is tase her."
Eventually, the woman makes her way over to Zo's Good Burger, next door to the clinic.
At this point, it's unclear what prompted the woman to arm herself, or how the strange, strained standoff eventually came to an end.
There were no reports of any injuries.
WWJ is awaiting a call back from Detroit Police for more information.
