DETROIT (WWJ) – A bus driver in Detroit is facing discipline after a video surfaced this week showing them fighting a student on a bus.

Officials with the Detroit Public Schools Community District say the driver, who is contracted through Trinity Transportation has been removed from service in the district and may face termination through the bus contractor.

The video shows both the driver and student, reportedly a 7th grader, throwing punches and wrestling with each other on the bus as other students are screaming and crying. See the video here.

School officials didn’t release any details about what prompted the incident, but the girl’s family claims the the student  was waving at her brother out the window and the driver tapped her on the shoulder and told her to “sit her a** down,” according to a report from Fox 2. The report says the girl then asked who she was talking to and then the driver took a swing at her.

But Fox 2 reports the driver told officials the girl had refused to sit down and said the student actually swung first.

Many details surrounding the incident, including the driver’s name and age, remain unclear.

Police are investigating.
