Vice President Kamala Harris scheduled to stop in Detroit, Southfield on Saturday

(WWJ/AP) - Vice President Kamala Harris is headed to Metro Detroit on Oct. 15 for several events, including a fundraiser for the Michigan Democratic Party, officials said.

While specific details have not yet been released, the White House said Harris is expected to meet up with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist on Saturday.

From there, the vice president is expected to attend another event highlighting the administration's efforts to spur on the production of semiconductor chips, the Associated Press reported.

Harris will then move on to Southfield to visit with students at a voter education event.

The exact locations of her stops haven't been announced.

Harris' visit comes weeks before Michigan's midterm elections.
