DETROIT (WWJ) -- Authorities are asking for help from the public as they work to identify a suspect accused of setting a Southwest Detroit home on fire.
The Detroit Fire Investigation Division, a joint task force between the
Detroit Police and Fire Departments, on Friday released a photo of a man wanted on an arson charge in connection with the incident on Monday, Nov. 4.
According to investigators, a Detroit resident bought a home, in the 1900 block of 25th Street, as an investment property and was in the process of making renovations when an unknown man set the house in fire.
The suspect, described as a white or Hispanic male, was seen on surveillance video from a nearby apartment building as he approached the home, wearing a light-colored long-sleeved t-shirt, blue jeans, and a baseball cap.
Police said the man fled from the backyard after putting a t-shirt over his
face. A minute later, the house was on fire.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
There's a $500 reward being offered in this case.
