WARREN (WWJ) — A man and a minor girl have been arrested after a large fight at a Warren high school on Monday landed a police officer in the hospital.

Warren police officers were called to Lincoln High School — near 9 Mile and Van Dyke — shortly before 3 p.m. after getting several calls about a large fight involving several people as school was letting out for the day.

When officers showed up they went to arrest an adult male. During the arrest, officials say a juvenile female — whose age was not released — “interjected herself into the arrest scene and began to assault a female officer.”

Police believe the teen hit the female officer in the head from behind, causing the officer to fall to the ground.

Several other officers were able to arrest the juvenile female, as well as the adult they were initially trying to arrest.

The officer is currently listed in serious yet stable condition at the hospital with a possible concussion, according to Warren police. She is expected to be admitted to the hospital for further medical evaluation, as she may have sustained a concussion.

While the investigation is still in the early stages, authorities do not believe either person arrested were students at Lincoln High School.

The case will be presented to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office for a review and decision on whether to charge the suspect as a juvenile or adult.

Authorities have not said what prompted the initial fight at the school or if anyone else involved was arrested.
