TROY (WWJ) — A Warren man is in trouble with the law after being caught speeding at more than 100 mph while he was “super drunk.”
It happened around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24 along northbound I-75 near Crooks Road, according to the Troy Police Department.
Officers pulled the 27-year-old man over when they clocked him going 112 mph in a 2017 Honda Civic.
When officers spoke to the driver they noticed his eyes were bloodshot and glassy and his car smelled like alcohol.
The man blew a .18% BAC on a preliminary breath test after failing several field sobriety tests, police officials said.
He was then arrested and taken to the Troy Police Lock-Up, where chemical breath tests came back with results of .22% and .23%, nearly three times the legal limit.
Officials said the man, whose name was not released, was cited for operating while intoxicated. Under Michigan law, drivers at .17% or higher are considered “super drunk,” which carries enhanced penalties.
