Waterford boy in critical condition after crash involving a suspected high teenager

WATERFORD (WWJ) -- A 10-year-old boy is in critical condition following a crash caused by suspected high driver in Oakland County Wednesday afternoon.

Waterford Police responded to the crash at the intersection of Highland Road and Cass Lake Road around 6 p.m. A 17-year-old driving a silver Jaguar X-Type turned westbound onto Cass Lake and struck a Ford Escape driving southbound on Highland Road.

The 19-year-old driver and 22-year-old front seat passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. A 14-year-old in the back seat also sustained minor injuries but was later released from the hospital.

The 10-year-old boy suffered a head injury and remains in critical condition at DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital. All involved in the crash are Waterford residents.

The initial investigation shows evidence of marijuana in the floorboard of the Jaguar. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
