WATERFORD TWP (WWJ) -- A pair of pedestrians sustained serious injuries when they were struck by a driver Thursday evening.
Waterford Police responded to reports of a serious crash at Cooley Lake Rd and Hiller Rd -- located a half-mile southwest of Elizabeth Lake -- on Mar. 16, just after 9:30 p.m.
Based on their initial assessment, officers believe that a 2009 Ford Flex struck two pedestrians who were walking in the roadway.
Both victims -- a 45-year-old man and 56-year-old woman -- were taken to McLaren Hospital with severe injuries. At this time, they are expected to survive.
The driver was a 59-year-old man, who, so far, does not appear to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Investigators are still looking into the incident and ask that anyone who witnessed the crash, or has any information, contact Officer Photiou at 248-618-6048.
Waterford PD was assisted by paramedics from the Waterford Regional Fire Department.
