Waterford Township man dies in motorcycle crash after striking traffic sign

PONTIAC (WWJ) A Waterford Township man has died in a motorcycle crash in Pontiac.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened Saturday (7/20) around 2:42 a.m. on Woodward at Osmun, between Auburn and South Boulevard.

According to the sheriff’s office; the driver, 39, was traveling on his 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Woodward when he “failed to negotiate a curve” and ran off the roadway into the median. He hit a traffic sign after he was thrown from his motorcycle.

The sheriff’s office said he was not wearing a helmet. It’s not clear if alcohol was a factor.

He died from his injuries at the hospital.

His name is being withheld until his loved ones are notified.
