DETROIT (WWJ) -- There's been number of job cuts at General Motors, and it's looking like there may be more to come.
WWJ Auto Beat Reporter Jeff Gilbert says GM has been tougher on its employee evaluations recently, and these salaried job cuts are coming as part of a GM program to weed out employees considered to be "poor performers."
"Some of the workers have taken to social media to say they were blindsided. Others say they expected this after bad performance reviews," Gilbert reported on Monday.
It's unclear right now just how many people have lost their jobs as part of this program, or how many more firings may be yet to come.
While GM acknowledged there have been some salaried job cuts, the automaker isn't releasing any numbers at this time.
A GM spokesperson said, in a statement to WWJ and other media: "GM is proud to have a culture where we foster and reward high performance, collaboration and excellence, which will help us attract and retain top talent in a competitive industry environment. That includes everything from ensuring employees know what is expected of them, providing feedback so they can develop and rewarding them for their performance."
