(WWJ) This will help you get into the holiday spirit.
The 27th annual Wayne County Lightfest will be aglow starting this week, with nearly 50 animated themed displays in Hines Park -- including four all new displays -- and more than 100,000 lights.
Wayne County Executive Warren Evans will flip the switch on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 6:30 p.m. to begin the event at Merriman Hollow Park, 7651 Merriman Road in Westland.
"We're thrilled that attending Lightfest has become an annual tradition for so many," said Evans. "As we officially kick off the holiday season, it's comforting to know that Wayne County is able to offer this magical four-mile stretch to brighten lives this holiday season."
Officials say the event offers a "safe option" for family fun this holiday season.
Beginning Nov. 25, the celebration takes place through the end of the year.
In order to promote social distancing and keep visitors safe, Lightfest will have amended days and hours of operation this year, and there will be no "Lights On" bonfire or Santa's Workshop activities.
