BELLEVILLE (WWJ) - A Belleville rest area off I-94 has opened back up after crews contained and cleaned up a fuel spill overnight, officials said.
The Michigan State Police said via social media that the rest area west of Belleville Road in Wayne County was closed after a parked semi truck leaked a large amount of diesel fuel in the parking lot.
Troopers said the spill was secured and isolated to one area.
The Van Buren Twp. Fire Department's HAZMAT team was called to the rest stop overnight and cleaned up the spill.
Crews worked for several hours and troopers say the rest area has been reopened for travelers.
