IRONS, MICH. (WWJ) The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is looking for tips to find the killer of a well-known, well-loved albino deer in the western part of the state.
The deer was found dead early Sunday morning in Irons, about 35 miles east of Manistee, located in Lake County.
Investigators said the poacher most likely killed the deer with a crossbow between 5 and 7 a.m. Sunday. She was found lying at the edge of someone’s yard along North Bass Lake Rd., about a half a mile north of 10 ½ Mile Rd.
According to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, only about one out of 30,000 deer are albino. They are characterized by their pink nose, pink eyes and white coat.
Anyone with information that leads to the arrest of the poacher is asked to call the DNR All Poaching Hotline at 1-800-292-7800. Tipsters can remain anonymous and report any time throughout the day or night. A cash reward may be offered.
