MONROE COUNTY (WWJ) – A woman is expected to face charges after leading police on a multi-state chase in a stolen car Saturday night.
It all began around 9 p.m. when the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office got a call from a driver reporting a white Honda Accord was driving erratically on southbound I-75 near Nadeau Road.
A deputy located the car, driven by a 43-year-old West Bloomfield woman, near Laplaisance Road and gave chase when she refused to pull over.
The chase continued south on I-75 into Ohio. She got off the freeway at W. Alexis Road in Toledo. Officers with the Toledo Police Department were able to join the chase.
The suspect made a U-turn on Alexis before crashing into a sheriff’s deputy’s car and turning into the Meijer parking lot. Moments later she was successfully stopped and taken into custody. No injuries were reported.
Investigators determined the Honda had recently been stolen out of Detroit.
The suspect was held at the Lucas County, Ohio, jail on numerous charges. Her name is not being released as the investigation continues. Authorities are asking anyone who knows something about the chase to call the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 734-240-7738.
