
WESTLAND (WWJ) A Westland man accused of robbing multiple businesses, including a lingerie store, at gunpoint in a clown mask and a skeleton costume was charged in federal court.
According to a criminal complaint from the U.S. District Court of Southeastern Michigan; Brendan Bonner, 33, was charged with robbing a string of businesses Sunday (10/27), throughout the night. The complaint said, around 1 a.m., he robbed Intimate Ideas, a lingerie store on Warren Road. During the robbery, he wore a partial skeleton mask, black jacket and dark pants. He demanded cash at gunpoint and absconded with $422, the complaint said.

About six hours later, after a costume change, he allegedly attempted to rob a McDonald’s on Ford Road at gunpoint. This time, he wore a clown mask and green jacket. He tried to get inside the restaurant to rob it, but this time, it was closed.
The complaint said then he walked into a Shell Gas Station, also on Ford Road, robbed the clerk at gunpoint and said: “You got 30 seconds before I start shooting.”

The clerk gave him $1,070. Bonner said “thank you." He ran away to an apartment complex on Pardo Street, in the area of Wayne and Ford Road, according to the complaint.
Garden City Police, who were patrolling the area, found him in a car outside of the complex the following day and arrested him.
Police found a semiautomatic handgun, a clown mask, latex gloves and cash tied in rubber bands on him when he was arrested; the complaint said.
When police searched his home; they discovered the skeleton mask and clothes he wore for robbing the lingerie store. Bonner admitted to his role in all of the robberies.
He was charged with Interference With Commerce By Violence.
