MIAMI, Fla. (WWJ) -- Richard Wershe Jr., much better known as “White Boy Rick,” has been arrested for an alleged assault on a woman at a Florida condominium.

According to the Miami Police Department, Wershe -- a well-known Detroit-native long-imprisoned for drug crimes -- is behind bars on charges in connection with an incident over the weekend, at 1900 N. Bayshore Drive in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood.

In what police describe as a domestic violence incident, it's alleged that Wershe and his girlfriend of four months were having sex when Wershe said another woman’s name.

When the girlfriend then tried to leave the bed, she told police that Wershe forcibly grabbed her arm and snatched a diamond bracelet and necklace he'd given her. She was able to pull away, police said, and threw a shoe at Wershe, but missed.

That's when it is alleged that Wershe caught up with the woman and punched her in the chest.

Police said there was person who reported witnessing the punch, but it's unclear who that person is, or what he or she was doing there.

The woman, whom police said suffered bruises from the incident, reported the attack at a Miami police station on Tuesday, saying she waited because of worries over her immigration status, according to a police report obtained by WWJ Newsradio 950.

Wershe showed up at the police station looking for his car keys and was arrested, police said.

When Wershe was searched he was found to be in possession of the keys to a Lamborghini, nearly $11,000 in cash, a gold Rolex watch, two gold chains, and a set of AirPods, the police report detailed.

Wershe -- imprisoned at age 17 -- gained fame as the longest-serving non-violent juvenile offender in Michigan’s history, having served 32 years in prison for drug offenses despite being an FBI informant.

He was granted parole in Michigan in 2017, but owed 22 months in Florida, after credit for time served, for a racketeering and conspiracy charge involving the sale of stolen vehicles.

Wershe, now in his 50s, was finally released from prison in Florida on July 20, 2020, and has since been promoting a marijuana brand in Michigan.

His story was inspiration for the feature film "White Boy Rick," starring Matthew McConaughey, as well as various documentaries.
