
(WWJ) – Fall in Metro Detroit. The air gets cooler, the leaves begin to change, and our minds start thinking about our favorite autumn treats. And for many Michiganders, that often centers around apple orchards and cider mills.
Behind Washington and New York, Michigan is the third largest grower of apples in the country. There are thousands of apple farms across the state and orchards and mills that see business boom this time of year.
But why? Why do Michiganders love cider and donuts so much? On a new Daily J, WWJ's Zach Clark went to an over 200-year-old orchard in Macomb County to figure it out.
