
(WWJ) – In the months and years after the COVID-19 pandemic hit the U.S., the country suffered a severe semiconductor chip shortage that affected many different industries — including automakers.
Being a vital technological component of new cars these days, these chips have become an important part of our everyday lives. And the impact goes far beyond cars.
With the vast majority of chips being manufactured in China, there has been a push by Michigan lawmakers to begin making them here. On this Daily J podcast, WWJ’s Brian Fisher learns why relying on foreign manufacturing for such a vital product could be dangerous.
