DETROIT (WWJ) - A Wind Advisory has been issued for much of the listening area as a cold front passes over the state Friday night, bringing wind gusts of up to 50 mph and the potential for blinding snow squalls.

Officials said multiple areas will be affected, including Wayne County, Oakland County, Macomb County, Washtenaw County, Monroe County, St. Clair County, Livingston County and Lapeer County.
The strong, southwest winds have the potential to down power lines and tree limbs, as well a blow around unsecured items. Gusts of 40 to 50 mph are expected as the cold front races across the state.
Bursts of heavier snowfall is possible in some areas resulting in a dusting to less than one inch of snow.
Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution. The high wind gusts can cause dangerous conditions to high profile vehicles and the the snow squalls expected with the wind storm can cause whiteout conditions, like the one that caused accidents involving 175 cars in the metro area last weekend.
Meteorologists warn that road conditions can change in a moment's notice and snow squalls can drastically drop visibility in a matter of seconds. Snow accumulation can happen quickly and drivers should be prepared for slick conditions if traveling throughout the night and into the early morning hours.
Temperatures will drop to around 15 degrees Friday night as the front blows through. Sunny skies are expected on Saturday, but chilly with highs only reaching 21 degrees. Saturday night will be frigid, with lows near 10 degrees before a warm up on Sunday.
