
(WWJ) More than 22,000 Metro Detroit homes and businesses are without power as storms roll across the area.
DTE reports 22,452 of its customers are in the dark, as of 5:30 pm.
The hardest hit area is Clinton Township in the area bound by 16 Mile, Hayes Rd., 18 Mile and Romeo Plant Road, where nearly 4,000 people are off the grid.
3,225 are also without power in Romulus; in the area bound by Middlebelt, Eureka, Sibley and Beech Daly.
There are also scattered outages in Livonia, the Grosse Pointe area, and in Detroit near the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Van Dyke and McNichols.
DTE says more than 160 crews are in the field. No estimated restoration time has been given.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch, has been canceled. It was originally expected to be in effect from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m., for Macomb, Oakland, Wayne, Livingston, Washtenaw, Monroe, Lenawee, Lapeer, Genesee, Huron, St. Clair, Sanilac and Tuscola Counties.
Accuweather Meteorologist Dave Samuel said metro Detroit will dry out overnight, but it will really cool off quickly.
Temperatures are expected to tumble into the 30s by daybreak on Saturday. Temps will go then creep up into the 40s for a dry day with some sunshine
Sunday it'll be cloudy with a high near 50 degrees, with highs into the upper 40s and rain expected Monday and Tuesday to kick off the week.
