
(WWJ) - The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Metro Detroit starting at 6 a.m. Friday, with slick conditions expected for the morning and evening commute.
Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Shiawassee and St. Clair Counties are expected to get 2-5 inches of snow starting at 6 a.m. on March 22. Accumulations from 4-7 inches is expected in the Tri-Cities and Thumb.
The snow is expected to impact the morning commute, with 1-2 inches expected between 6 and 9 a.m., creating potentially hazardous conditions as people head to work. Some areas could see 3 inches before the morning is over.
There will be a lull in the snow, which could see rain mixed in, during the early afternoon, before the snow returns for the afternoon commute. An additional 1-2 inches is expected in the late afternoon into the evening.
Drivers should expect longer drive times, and slow down to ensure their safety and the safety of other commuters, experts said.
