DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit women is in custody after troopers say she brandished a knife on her boyfriend as he was driving on I-96, causing him to lose control and crash late Thursday evening.
Michigan State Police said they were notified of the crash around 10:15 p.m. on February 22 after receiving 911 calls about a rolled over vehicle that was blocking I-96 near the Southfield Freeway on the Detroit/Southfield border.
As troopers were headed to the scene, another caller stated that a woman was chasing a man around the crash scene with a knife.
State police arrived at the location and arrested the woman without further incident, MSP added.
Based on their preliminary investigation, troopers discovered the 32-year-old male driver from Livonia and the 31-year-old female passenger from Detroit were in a relationship.
The man was driving when the women brandished the knife, causing her boyfriend to lose control and crash the vehicle, troopers said.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.
The woman was lodged and is awaiting charges.
