SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) — A woman is in custody after allegedly hitting another woman in the face with a shoe at a middle school graduation ceremony in Oakland County Tuesday morning.
Southfield police were called to Triumph Church on J.L. Hudson Drive, near M-10 and 9 Mile Road, around 11 a.m. after getting calls about what was originally described as a possible stabbing.
When officers showed up they learned the mother of one of the students had gotten into an argument with the current girlfriend of the student's father, a police spokesperson told WWJ's Darrylin Horne.
At some point the argument escalated to violence and the mother is believed to have hit the other woman in the face with a shoe. Police were not immediately sure what type of shoe was used.
The victim was treated for minor wounds to her face, while the suspect was arrested and taken to the Southfield Detention Center.
No other details have been released.
