Upon arrival, deputies discovered flames and smoke in the office’s front lobby.

The Highland Township Fire Department (HTFD) was called to the scene, and were able to put out the flames, but not before an estimated $100,000 worth of damages were done to the lobby.

Surveillance video revealed a woman entering the lobby, igniting a piece of paper, and then placing it inside of a trash receptacle before leaving.

The lobby is open to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing the suspect to get inside.

She is described as a white female wearing a black hat, gray coat, carrying a red hand bag and wearing white tennis shoes.

The fire is considered a case of arson, and the investigation by the Postal Inspector’s Office, OCSO Fire Investigations Unit, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Highland Township Fire Department is ongoing.

The Arson Prevention Reward Program via the Detroit Crime Commission is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest, and Crime Stoppers is offering an additional $1,000 reward.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
