TROY (WWJ) -- The Troy Police Department is addressing a viral social media video, in which a woman claims she and her children were followed at local Target store, and "almost trafficked."

In the video, posted to Facebook on Thursday, the woman says she took her kids to Target at around 4 p.m. and "noticed that I was being followed around the store by two men."

She said the men were behaving strangely, didn't have carts and didn't appear to be shopping — but showed up down ever aisle she was in.

The woman said she eventually made a beeline for a cashier, choosing a lane where there were a lot of people around. She then yelled at one of the men saying, "I know that you guys are following me," and began recording the man on video.

The man said man did not react.

She then ran to the customer service desk for help. As she was escorted out by a Target security employee, she said she saw one of the men as they were walking to their car. "I literally felt all the blood in my face like just drain, because he was waiting outside by the curb, staring at the entrance of the Target, I am assuming to watch us when we were coming out so he could follow us to the car."

The woman then left with her children.

In a statement Friday, the Troy Police Department said it is aware of a widely shared social media video regarding a recent complaint at the Target store at Coolidge and Maple.

Police said a report has been filed, and Troy PD detectives have begun an investigation, adding: "The individuals referenced in the video have been identified and interviewed, and at this time we do not believe there is any danger to the public."

The Troy PD did not say whether the men admitted to following the woman, or what it was they said they were doing.

Police added: "We understand the public’s concern and are conducting a thorough review of the matter. As always, if you ever feel threatened or in danger, please contact the police immediately so we can respond directly and ensure your safety."

No further information was released.
