BLOOMFIELD TWP. (WWJ) -- A 50-year-old woman was killed over the weekend when she was hit by a car outside an upscale grocery store in Bloomfield Township.

According to police, the victim was on foot in the parking lot behind Nino Salvaggio, on Telegraph Rd. near W. Maple Rd., at around 1:20 p.m. Sunday when she was struck by a Lincoln MKZ.

The injured woman was taken to a local hospital where she later died.

Police said the driver involved, an 83-year-old man, stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with investigation. It's not clear at this time if the man could face charges in the woman's death.

It's not believed that speed or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
