
DETROIT (WWJ) -- A crash that happened early this morning in Detroit resulted in the electrocution and death of one woman.
WWJ’s Charlie Langton reports that the incident occurred Monday around 6:00 a.m. on the city’s west side at Tireman Avenue near the Southfield Freeway.
A woman slammed into a utility pole and was reportedly electrocuted when she got out of her car and touched a downed wire.
Neighbors say that the woman unresponsive when emergency crews arrived on the scene.
“She just started shaking and passing out in the middle of the street,” said Diamond Simmons, a neighbor who witness the accident. “She was in and out, but I was told not to touch her, so all I could do was try to talk to her and see if she could hear me or give me something that was still there, but it was nothing.”
The woman was taken to the hospital, where she later died. Detroit police and DTE Energy are investigating the situation.
